These Homemade Lunchable Plates with Turkey and Cheddar are a quick, customizable, and budget-friendly alternative to store-bought lunch kits. Made with real turkey, sharp cheddar, and your favorite crackers, they come together in under 5 minutes and are perfect for school, work, or picnics.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 46 slices roasted turkey breast (deli-sliced or leftover homemade)
  • 23 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, cut into small cubes or thin slices
  • 1012 whole wheat crackers or your favorite variety
  • A handful of red grapes, apple slices, or berries
  • A small handful of baby carrots, cucumber rounds, or snap peas (optional)
  • A couple of dark chocolate chips, a small cookie, or a few pretzels (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon honey mustard, ranch dressing, or hummus (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the turkey: If using deli turkey, lay slices flat on a cutting board. Roll each slice into a tight log, then slice into bite-sized pinwheels. If using leftover roasted turkey, tear into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Cut the cheese: Slice cheddar into small cubes (about ½ inch each) or use a small cookie cutter to make fun shapes. Aim for 8-10 cubes per serving.
  3. Prep the fruit and veggies: Wash and dry grapes thoroughly. If using apple slices, toss in a little lemon juice to prevent browning. Slice cucumber rounds or baby carrots into sticks. Pat everything dry with a paper towel.
  4. Assemble the plate: Arrange everything in a lunchbox or bento box. Place crackers in one compartment, turkey pinwheels in another, cheese cubes in a third, and fruit/veggies in remaining spaces. Keep crackers away from anything wet using silicone cups.
  5. Add the dip (optional): Spoon a tablespoon of honey mustard, ranch, or hummus into a small leak-proof container and nestle it into the lunchbox.
  6. Finish with a treat (optional): Tuck a few dark chocolate chips, a mini cookie, or a handful of pretzels into a corner.
  7. Chill until ready: If packing the night before, store the assembled lunchbox in the refrigerator. For crunchier crackers, pack them separately and add in the morning.

Notes

Keep ingredients dry to prevent soggy crackers. Roll turkey tightly for better pinwheels. Batch prep ingredients on Sunday for quick assembly during the week. For picky eaters, use cookie cutters to make fun shapes. The recipe is highly customizable—swap turkey for ham or salami, use different cheeses, or add various fruits and veggies.
