An easy and crowd-pleasing appetizer featuring little smokies simmered in a sticky-sweet grape jelly and barbecue sauce glaze, perfect for gatherings and casual get-togethers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds little smokies sausages
  • 1 cup grape jelly
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • Dash of hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup grape jelly and 1 cup barbecue sauce. Stir until smooth and well blended. Add Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and hot sauce if using.
  2. Place 2 pounds of little smokies into the slow cooker, spreading them out evenly.
  3. Pour the sauce mixture evenly over the little smokies. Stir gently to coat all sausages.
  4. Set the slow cooker to low and cook for 3-4 hours, stirring every hour to redistribute the sauce and prevent sticking.
  5. After about 3 hours, check that the smokies have reached an internal temperature of at least 140°F and that the sauce is bubbly and thickened. If sauce is too thin, increase heat to high for the last 15-30 minutes with the lid off to reduce.
  6. Serve warm, stirring once more before transferring to a serving dish.

Notes

Avoid opening the slow cooker lid frequently to maintain heat. Stir gently every hour to keep the sauce coating the smokies without breaking down the jelly too much. Adjust sweetness with a splash of apple cider vinegar if needed. Can be made on stovetop by simmering on low for 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally.
