A quick, healthy snack combining creamy peanut butter, ripe banana slices, crunchy celery, and raisins or mini chocolate chips for a fresh twist on the classic ants-on-a-log.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 45 celery stalks, fresh and crisp
  • 1 ripe banana, sliced into 1/4 inch rounds
  • About 1 tablespoon (15 g) creamy natural peanut butter per celery stalk
  • Raisins or mini chocolate chips (about 10-12 per celery piece)
  • Optional: chia seeds or crushed nuts for topping

Instructions

  1. Wash and prepare the celery: rinse 4-5 celery stalks under cold water, pat dry, trim ends, and cut into 4 to 5-inch pieces.
  2. Peel one ripe banana and slice into thin rounds about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Spread about 1 tablespoon of creamy peanut butter evenly along the inner curve of each celery piece.
  4. Layer banana slices side by side over the peanut butter on each celery piece.
  5. Top each celery stick with 10-12 raisins or mini chocolate chips, placing them like ants marching along the banana layer.
  6. Optionally sprinkle chia seeds or crushed nuts on top for extra texture and nutrition.
  7. Serve immediately or refrigerate up to 2 hours to keep celery crisp.

Notes

Use creamy peanut butter for best spreadability and to hold toppings in place. Slice bananas just before assembling to avoid browning or toss slices in lemon juice. Store assembled snack in airtight container and consume within 2 hours for best freshness. Nut-free alternatives include sunflower seed or soy nut butter. For a seasonal twist, swap banana with fresh pear or apple slices.
