These easy patriotic pinwheel sandwiches combine creamy cheese, savory ham, and fresh veggies rolled in soft tortillas, perfect for summer parties and quick lunches.

  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • Thinly sliced deli ham (about 8 ounces)
  • 8 ounces (227 grams) softened cream cheese
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 cup (100 grams) shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh spinach or lettuce leaves, washed and dried
  • Thinly sliced tomato
  • Finely chopped green onions (optional)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine softened cream cheese with Dijon mustard. Mix until smooth and creamy. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to taste.
  2. Lay out four large flour tortillas on a clean surface. Spread a generous, even layer of the cream cheese mixture over each tortilla, right up to the edges.
  3. On each tortilla, arrange thin slices of ham evenly. Sprinkle about 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese over the ham. Add a layer of fresh spinach or lettuce leaves, followed by thin slices of tomato. Sprinkle green onions if using.
  4. Carefully roll each tortilla tightly from one edge to the other, making sure the filling stays inside. Wrap each roll tightly in plastic wrap or parchment paper.
  5. Place the wrapped rolls in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to chill and firm up.
  6. After chilling, unwrap the rolls and use a sharp knife to slice each into 1-inch thick rounds. Arrange them on a platter for serving.

Notes

Use softened cream cheese for easy spreading. Chill rolls before slicing to keep pinwheels neat. Warm tortillas slightly if they crack when rolling. Avoid overfilling to prevent bursting. Can substitute ham with turkey or roast beef, or use gluten-free tortillas or lettuce wraps for dietary needs.
