This crispy oven bacon recipe delivers perfectly crunchy bacon with zero splatter and minimal cleanup. It’s easy, mess-free, and consistently delicious every time.

Ingredients

  • Bacon slices (thick-cut or regular sliced, preferably Applewood smoked)
  • Aluminum foil or parchment paper (for lining the baking sheet)
  • Optional: freshly cracked black pepper
  • Optional: brown sugar
  • Optional: smoked paprika
  • Optional: maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (204°C).
  2. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil. If using, place a wire rack on top of the foil.
  3. Arrange bacon slices in a single layer on the foil or wire rack, spacing them about 1/4 inch apart.
  4. Optionally sprinkle black pepper or brown sugar over the bacon slices.
  5. Place the baking sheet on the middle oven rack and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, checking at 12 minutes for doneness.
  6. Bacon is done when deep golden brown and crisp but not burnt, with slightly curled edges.
  7. Use tongs to transfer bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess grease.
  8. Let bacon cool for a couple of minutes before serving.

Notes

Avoid overcrowding the pan to prevent steaming instead of crisping. Rotate the baking sheet halfway through cooking for even browning. Use foil for easy cleanup. Watch bacon closely near the end to avoid overcooking. For extra crispiness, use a wire rack. Maple syrup or smoked paprika can be added for flavor variations.
