This creamy peanut butter banana protein smoothie tastes like a milkshake but is packed with protein and wholesome ingredients. Ready in just three minutes, it’s the perfect quick breakfast or post-workout fuel.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large ripe banana (preferably frozen, peeled and sliced)
  • 2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
  • 1 scoop vanilla or unflavored protein powder (about 30 grams)
  • 1 cup milk of choice (240 ml)
  • ½ cup ice cubes (optional, only if using fresh banana)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Prep your banana: If using a fresh banana, peel and slice it into coins. If using frozen banana, grab your pre-sliced pieces from the freezer. You want about 1 cup of banana slices total.
  2. Add liquid first: Pour your 1 cup (240 ml) of milk into the blender.
  3. Add peanut butter: Spoon in 2 tablespoons of peanut butter. If your peanut butter is natural and has separated oil on top, give it a good stir first.
  4. Scoop in protein powder: Add 1 scoop (about 30 grams) of your protein powder.
  5. Add banana and ice: Drop in your banana slices and ice cubes (if using).
  6. Sprinkle in salt: Add a tiny pinch of salt.
  7. Blend until smooth: Start on low speed for about 10 seconds, then ramp up to high speed for 20-30 seconds.
  8. Check the consistency: The smoothie should be thick enough to coat the back of a spoon but still pourable. If too thick, add a splash more milk and blend again. If too thin, add a few more ice cubes or frozen banana.
  9. Pour and enjoy immediately: Pour into a tall glass and drink right away.

Notes

Freeze bananas when they start getting spotty for best results. For a dairy-free version, use oat or almond milk plus a plant-based protein powder. No peanut butter? Swap in almond butter, cashew butter, or sunflower seed butter. If you’re out of protein powder, Greek yogurt works as a substitute—just add an extra tablespoon of peanut butter for thickness.
