buffalo chicken dip crockpot recipe - featured image

A creamy, spicy buffalo chicken dip made effortlessly in the slow cooker with just five simple ingredients. Perfect for parties, game days, or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups shredded cooked chicken (rotisserie or leftover roasted chicken)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ½ cup buffalo hot sauce (e.g., Frank’s RedHot)
  • ½ cup ranch dressing (or blue cheese dressing as a substitute)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (sharp cheddar or cheddar blend)

Instructions

  1. Shred about 3 cups of cooked chicken using your fingers or forks (5-7 minutes).
  2. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it at room temperature for about 15 minutes or microwave for 20 seconds.
  3. Add softened cream cheese, shredded chicken, buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, and shredded cheddar cheese into the slow cooker. Mix gently but thoroughly until evenly combined (about 5 minutes).
  4. Cover and cook on low for 2.5 to 3 hours. Stir once halfway through cooking to keep the dip creamy and prevent sticking.
  5. Give one last stir before serving to blend any separated sauce or cheese. Serve warm with chips, celery sticks, or crackers.

Notes

If the dip is too thick after cooking, stir in a splash of milk or more ranch dressing to loosen it. If too thin, add extra shredded cheese and cook uncovered on low for 15-20 minutes to thicken. Softening cream cheese beforehand prevents lumps. Stir halfway through cooking to prevent sticking. Adjust buffalo sauce amount to control spice level. Can be made on stovetop over low heat if no slow cooker is available.
